Searching

Feels like I am searching for something...

Something bigger than what I am feeling and living and understood and... I just cant find a vocabulary to put to it.

Maybe playing Plant Tycoons have kept me quite awake. Which I know I will be so dead tomorrow.

Its 2.35 am.

Few more hours left before the alarm screams and the day begins again. Same old thing. I am not bored of it, I think i need a break. It is just never ending, one event after another in school.

Can't they just spare us for the weekend at least lil? I am so exhausted. Again. Every year I just complain about the same thing.

Does that mean it's time to do something bout it? Well being so free early of the year got me rather depressed. Or rather again, I am just a workoholic.

I saw some pictures of spring flowers in friend's facebook. Babies video. Travelling photos from of Japan. The world is so big and the air is fresh outside. I just want to have a sniff of it. The air with me right now is quite stale.

Something is missing.

I cant seem to locate it. :(

Tuesday Tranquillo

It's been almost a year since I have been here. Wong Kok Char Chan Teng in Pyramid, my newfound sanctuary in Aug 21 2009. Somehow after that day, there were to much activity that I have no other days where I could come and chill out in Pyramid so often. Just too tired, want to return home to zzzz...

Tuesday tranquillo it is today. Rehearsal got cancelled and am stranded from returning home due to the strange jam in Subang. I rather be sitting here blogging than getting stuck in the traffic.

One new intern popped in this morning and said 'Wow, so free to surf?' Yinn and I just looked and smile. Today must have been the first day after the past few weeks, we could just chilled and surf around. It has been so busy in school and elsewhere, that we could hardly breathe. The secondary concert is finally over, it was great success for Rain Choir and Gaga Choir. It was torturous when you cant sleep at night for 2 weeks worrying about the items, dance choreography, costumes as well as song structure.

Hmm, and I could enjoy a nice plate of fried noodle and my fav ice tea in this restaurant peacefully today. Without rushing to swallow my food. Breathing in freedom of time and relaxing as much.

Breathe.

Just keep breathing.

Awards Night

Today, I attended the 8th Boh Cameronian Arts Awards for the first time and it is also the last one. Kakiseni will discontinue its operation. Truely sad about it. This is actually one of the site I always recommend to aspiring artist or performer as a revenue or new opportunities.
RIB was one of the nominated ones in this event. It was rather interesting for me seeing so many of the local performing artist, public figures and also meeting a few of my uni mates and people I haven't met for awhile.

I love this picture edited by Colleen and taken by Ann, it is just adorable. Half of Hari Jadi performer there, only 9 of us attended. What caught my attention are a few things.

1. I love Bernard Goh's pants on that night! :) It's so Wong Fei Hung and stylish!
2. Shelah is fabuloso! and Zedeck is hillarious and looks good in that yellow dress + hair
3. Funny presenters on that night, had a great laugh.
4. Awie was there (me not a fan though) and those flashes from the cameraman in front of us is blinding me
5. Hmm...can be quite boring after awhile
6. Sad that I missed Hand's percussion performance..night was getting late and had to leave earlier

Well, that's all I can think of. Still sad by the thought I missed Dreams in November, and the plus plus is I BOUGHT the tickets and could not go! DAMN!(All pictures credit to Colleen Wong)

A Lil' Collective Memory

Funky fashion for Gaga Choir. The secondary students which I am teaching for almost 3 years for some of them. Their final concert for the year before there will be no more PA subjects in Form 4. I am so proud of their progress til today. To be frank, I am rather terrified of them every time before lesson and much stress to deal with them. Almost zombies these students of mine, inactive and blabla...
And today for the concert, I think I could cry seeing them perform the way they did. It was fantastic!! We did a Lady Gaga meddley which includes Just Dance, Papparazzi, Poker Face/ Bad Romance and Telephone. A combi along with the music tech students Zen & Adam as well as the violinist.
It was a really tiring day, starting with the make up session at 7am. (Considering that I had my own performance the night before and all the daily rehearsal after work). Ann and I painted most of the silver eyes. Yinn drew eyeliner make up to the boys. Ai Ting and Winnie does most of the hair, basic make up and to other teachers Wei Keat, Hui, Terrence and Rebecca replaced most of our classes while we are busy with concert. Mun Fei handling the violin students and Terrence with his crews. To be a teacher in this school u have to be the stylist, choreographer, make up artist, costume designer, vocal coach and anything u can think off. I am so thankful to have wonderful colleagues who would all come as early as 7am and help to paint the students face. It all turn up well for all the items :)

And finally, I think i was emo-ing at the thought that am going to miss this whole bunch of Form 3s. Here's a post tagged to all of them on facebook:

A Lil' Collective Memory

Dear Form 3 Chorus Student of 2010,

Today would mark the final concert of your 3 years journey in C. Performing Arts, specifically in Chorus Subject. You have given your heart out for today’s performance and worked very hard for the concert despite your ongoing studies and sports practices. It was a superb performance today. You have grown so much throughout the years.

Do you still remember your first year in Form 1? Well, I do. Some of you have chosen this subject by choice and some of you happen to land into it by accident and some not on your own will. As for some, singing is a very new thing for you. It was so difficult to get you all to open your mouth and sing. If the repertoire was not to your likings, I will get a class of zombies or silent period and sometimes noise.

Entering the second year, you were about to have your first secondary concert. Performing in front of an audience can be a rather frightening experience. We did a rather theatrical concept in your item. You had to deal with costumes, acting, dancing, playing boom whackers, singing and standard expectation for the concert. I think it might be culture shock to some. After the concert, I believe some of you have made closer ties with your school mates and had a different attitude towards the subject.

And today, it was just ‘WOW’! You have given a confident and energetic performance. I believe you have inspired some of your juniors as well. You have danced and sang your heart out, and you were really entertaining the crowd. It is a far cry from last year's performance. The shy and soft singing have disappeared and you took on another persona. A persona that is there to rock the crowd!! :)

Lastly, I would like to say I am so PROUD of all of you :) I hope today will stay as an unforgettable experience in your school life and may your musical journey keep growing. Thank you for doing so well and be so bold in fashion and make up for Gaga Invasion! Indeed an invasion!

With warm regards,

Miss Low

Another Dream Came True

I met up with Juni few days ago and we were talking about dreams that actually came true.

And I dare say now, 'Dreams Do Come True!' It might take some years and maybe many, and when it finally happened. You just wonder, did it actually happened?
One of my biggest dream was to play in MPO, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Hahha, but as you grow older, you realize how impossible it can be...You have to be superb great classical musician to be playing there. Well, to be playing in the philharmonic hall has took a twist for me. Instead of classical, I am playing the gamelan. Somehow, I can't believe I was performing in that hall that night. It was 14th April 2010, marks a very special day for me. Playing with Rhythm in Bronze and a few other MPO players, for the MPO Happy Hour: A Gamelan Discovery. I still couldn't believe that it actually happened. Well it did. A dream that came true, after rattling about it for many many years.. since I was younger..I am playing in the philharmonic hall! :D

So don't stop believing for those of you out there! If it could happen to someone as ordinary as me. As timid and introvert if you knew me 15 years ago. People change and path changes if you work hard and keep having faith.
Thank you to those who have led me here today. I am deeply grateful :)
