Simplicity of Children

It’s lovely working among kids. When I was younger, eventhough I am 7 or 12, I felt very big…But being at 24 now, when I look at children aged 12 and below, they seem so young and tiny. It’s really impressive to watch them being so talented at such a young age. Say such wise words sometimes.

Kids writing poetry, pretty nonsensical ones but an effort to make it rhyme. Drawings of their imagination. I remember seeing a rather serious drawing, the 7 year old kid who drew the map of the world during the ‘draw anything’ period.

Then, you notice some really naughty and talkative boys has great talent in creative drawing. At times, they gave you so many headaches in class that you forgot that they have much more to offer.

Today, I heard some really lovely voices. A girl as young as 8 yrs old, Abigail…she sang the songs like an adult. Your jaw would just drop in amazement. I remember telling my colleague ‘ Wow, this girl will have such a bright future awaiting her’. She couldn’t agree more.

Today, lil’ Imran gave a hug and to every other teacher before he leaves home. Such a darling. I was a lill’ shock by it. I realize I have been so cold all these years, shutting the warmth of the world for fear of being hurt. I finally understood how one lil hug could really break the coldness and brighten up the dark side of your world. Teenage years can be such a torment, struggling to cope; sometimes you bring the past with you, as you live and grow older.

When you start dealing with younger kids at work or re-enter the primary school compound. It seems like; you have stepped into the past where things seem so much lighter and fun. No worries of money work and so on.

Just the simplicity of children’s laughter. The voice that sounds so pure when they sing.

Leaves you in awe.
