The weather was extremely hot today. I sat at the bus stop, waiting for the bus to KJ Lrt. They took like nearly 50 minutes to reach, I thought i have counted my time wrongly or so. I was suppose to meet Eva at 4pm but ended up half an hour late because of the bus. When, her car came..we head over to the Buddhist Gem Fellowship centre. I was there to support her for her speech competition and i did not know it was organized by a buddhist fellowship. It was nice to revisit this kinda place again, i remember i used to go for dana offering and also dharma talk back in secondary school days. Missed those :D
The place is really clean and neat, reminds me of a Japanese home shrine and also some Zen place..heheh. Incense was consumating the whole place all the time. Peaceful and pleasant. Then, the folks there were busy packing CD for distribution at one corner and the participants were busy rehearsing their speech. I really do admire people who could do nice speeches, something which i haven't really mastered and try out. I remember how i made a fool out of myself in the Interact Club speech during some Leadership training course. *sighh* *embarassing* :P
Then i went scouting around the place, i landed in the books corner. I was really impressed on how the the sales of books were done. Trust Basis. There is a small box that contains money at the side. In order to buy the books there, we just need to fill up the slip and place the amount of money for the books that you intend to buy. It's a self service sales and payment. I got myself '108 Treasures of the Heart' and 3 boxex of incense (rather cheap) and also 2 more books which is free for distribution.
Then, the competition began at 7pm after some refreshment. We were served with vegetarian food. The vegetarian beef ball was delicious :D. Eva's speech was about 'The Greatest Gift of All'. There are a few other stories that i personally liked too by the other participants (One is about her own experience as a monk for 2 weeks, another about a hillarious version of 3 little pigs and others) They have great moral values in every story that goes hand in hand with the motto ' To build a better tomorrow'. Every guest that attend the competition is given a piece of paper to judge the participants. Then, the night ended or perhaps just began?
Eva's parents brought us gals ( eva, elaine and I) for a nice supper (it's more to a dinner) in Souled Out in Hartamas area. It was an awesome place. We had a like fiest, i think her parents are really proud of her taht night. There were a variety of drinks that we tried out ( baileys, wine, macadamia shake and etc.) plus snacks (naan, fried tauhu, satay, chicken wings and etc.). We got back home at 12am. We did not sleep till like 5 am i think. 12-1 was spent gaga-ing over David tao's video and also chatting away. Fixing Eva's comp too, it's so slow (woman u need to defract your comp when is needed before the fragmented files piled up! :P) Then 2am is the David Tao interview and we yak for awhile till we fell asleep at 5am.
